Bacalar
Bacalar is a magical site for those seeking contact with beauty and nature in its purest form. Founded by the Mayans at the edge of the Lagoon of the Seven Colors, it is a place rich with culture and it is just a short drive away from Playa del Carmen.
This was the first city in the region which the Spanish conquerors succeeded in taking and holding in 1543.
The great lagoon on the east side of the town, also named Bacalar, is the entrance to many cenotes. In this tour, we will sail though the lagoon and visit Emerald Cenote, Black Cenote and also, the Pirate’s Canal.
We’ll also get to know the most important streets of town and Fortress of San Felipe, built in the 17th century, to protect against pirate attacks.
Have a delicious lunch at the lagoon shore and enjoy your free time with a relaxing swim in the crystal clear waters before heading back.
